The Flexible Working (Eligibility, Complaints and Remedies) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 SI 2009/595 have now been published. The Regulations extend the right to request flexible working to carers of children under 17 from 6 April 2009.  After full consultation with the HM Treasury and stakeholders, the Home Office announced that a new Vetting and Barring Scheme will be implemented from 12 October 2009.  It is expected that the scheme will provide a much more comprehensive and consistent measure of protection for vulnerable groups across a wide range of settings.
